The Little Things

It's the little things that help us get through this crazy roller coaster ride called adoption. This weekend we decided to put the new car seats in our cars and put Drew's crib together. Wow...what a difference little things like that can make. While the back seats of our cars are very crowded, it makes me happy that we've taken that itsy bitsy step. Now...all we need is Drew to put in the car seat and the crib. Soon....hopefully VERY soon.

Dear Nadra,
You do not know me, I found your blogspot while searching for a friend's, but, after reading some of your posts, just had to encourage you to hand tight, IT WILL HAPPEN! We have dear close friends who are leaving tomorrow (April 15) to pick up their two little girls in Vietnam and have also "walked" through this process with two other dear friends. Believe me, I can tell you from them, it sometimes seems like it will never happen, BUT IT FINALLY DOES! And it is all so worth the wait. The friend who is leaving tomorrow has been just as frustrated and sad as you are now. They thought they would never get to go. (And they are in their 50's, so maybe they feel time is even more essential to them, ha!) Anyway, their day has finally come and so will yours. I've watched this process several times now and what you are experiencing seems very much the norm. Ups and downs and frustrations, but it's always in God's hands and His timing is just perfect. I will include your family in my prayers as I pray for our dear Mark and Paula going tomorrow. You will make it through this and get that precious little boy in your arms! God bless you all!

Hi again Nadra,
After writing yesterday, I realized I didn't leave my e-mail address just in case you wanted to respond. Please don't feel obligated to do that but if you would like to write back, my e-mail is finney@comteck.com. I live in rural Grant County, Indiana near the city of Marion. The friends I mentioned who are leaving today (April 15) for Vietnam to get their two little girls are Mark and Paula Davis of near Hartford City, IN. Their blogspot is ourlittleangelsfrom vietnam.blogspot.com. Paula's brother and his wife (also good friends of ours) are Pete & Sunnie Frank, who adopted two little girls from Vietnam back in 2006 (and sort of instigated the whole thing around here, ha!). Their website is blessingsfromvietnam.com. You might enjoy looking in on these sites while you wait. I'm sure you would find encouragement that you are not alone in what you're going through. Believe me, they have gone through it also, plus two other families I know of well. It is truly a roller coaster ride, as you said, but, again, one that has a wonderful ending. In my acquaintance as of now (in our general area, counting the Davis'), I know or know of 9 Vietnamese children who have come home in the last two years. Also know of 2 or 3 more in process. So take heart. From what I have observed, it is well worth the wait! (Of course!) Again, blessings on all of you.

It aches my heart that you have been waiting so long past Drew's referral to travel. I hope you get news that it is finally time for you to pick up Drew! I can't wait to see the pictures of you holding Drew in Ninh Thuan...what a wonderful day that will be. It will happen soon, I just know it!
